A "double-engine" government in Delhi will ensure the city’s overall development, said Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday.

Speaking at an election rally in Bawana, he highlighted that the Modi government had given relief to the middle class by raising the income tax exemption limit from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh in the Union Budget. He said this would directly benefit one crore people in Delhi.

Dhami praised Prime Minister Modi's leadership, saying major infrastructure projects were completed in just 10 years—work that had not been done since Independence. He criticised the AAP government in Delhi, calling it an obstacle to progress and accusing it of misleading people with false claims.

He pointed out that the Delhi Metro expanded from 190 km to 400 km, adding 135 new stations in the past decade. The Red Line extension through Bawana had also been approved. He also mentioned the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, which will reduce travel time to 2.5 hours, making flights unnecessary for many.

Dhami criticised the Kejriwal government for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi, while people across India benefit from free healthcare.

Speaking about Uttarakhand, he said his government had taken historic steps to preserve cultural values and removed encroachments from 5,500 acres of land. He also noted that the BJP had fulfilled its promise to implement a Uniform Civil Code in the state.

He claimed Uttarakhand was progressing because of a "double-engine" government and that Delhi needed the same to develop properly. He blamed AAP for halting the city’s progress over the last 10 years.

Dhami accused AAP and Congress of corruption and appeasement politics, stating that AAP had done nothing but scams. He alleged that instead of opening 500 schools, AAP prioritised liquor shops and was involved in a multi-crore "liquor scam," leading to the arrest of the then CM and his deputy. He pointed out that they were only out on bail, not cleared of charges.

He also mocked AAP for repeatedly promising to clean the Yamuna while blaming the Haryana government for pollution instead of fixing the issue.

Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with vote counting on February 8.
