Ex-RJD leader sparks row with slur on Tejashwi Yadav’s wife

Ex-RJD MLA insults Tejashwi’s wife sparks protests in Bihar.

Former Nawada MLA Rajballabh Yadav has sparked a political storm after likening the wife of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav to a "jersey cow" during a public meeting in Bihar’s Nardiganj.

Rajballabh, who was once a senior figure in the RJD, questioned why Tejashwi did not marry within his own Yadav community. “If he had married a Yadav girl, it would have benefited a daughter of the community. Instead, he brought someone from Haryana-Punjab, as if she were a jersey cow,” he said.

The remark drew strong condemnation, particularly from the RJD Women’s Wing in Nawada, which organised a protest to express its disapproval. At Sadbhavna Chowk, party workers burnt an effigy of Rajballabh and raised slogans against him, signalling their anger and disappointment.

Led by district RJD Women’s Wing president Renu Singh, the protesters marched from the party office before staging the demonstration.

“By calling Tejashwi Yadav’s wife Rajshree a jersey cow, former minister Rajballabh Prasad has insulted not just her, but the entire womanhood. This will not be tolerated,” Singh declared. Protesters also chanted slogans saying, “India will not tolerate the insult of women.”

Rajballabh Yadav has long been a controversial figure. He was jailed in 2016 in connection with the rape of a minor, which led to his expulsion from the RJD.

However, he was recently acquitted of the charges by the Patna High Court.

The uproar comes at a sensitive time in poll-bound Bihar, where political discourse has already been heated.

Just days earlier, a video from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ went viral, showing party workers making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

The video, shot at a dais displaying posters of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Tejashwi Yadav, intensified the controversy.
