Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and BJP state president VD Sharma at a press conference in Bhopal, Sunday.

Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Sunday that the government has taken note of the "objections raised by everyone" regarding the recent deportation of illegal Indian immigrants from the US.

There was public outcry after the US deported illegal Indian immigrants while they were handcuffed during a 40-hour flight on a military plane.

On February 5, a US military plane carrying 104 illegal Indian immigrants landed in Amritsar.

India raised concerns with the US on Friday, expressing that the treatment of deporting people in shackles was unnecessary and could have been avoided.

Khattar stated, "America has deported people to India before. This time, everyone had objections to how it was done. The objection has been noted, and the matter will be resolved through talks. This situation is not good for any country, and the government will address it after careful consideration."

He added that there has always been a demand to carry out deportations and that it should be done with proper care and sensitivity in terms of when and how it happens.

When asked why illegal migrants from Bangladesh, who are seen as an economic burden on India, are not being sent back, Khattar said it is a serious issue and that people should not travel to any country illegally.

"Whether it’s our citizens or others coming here, deportation happens everywhere. We have also deported many people from Assam," he said.

Khattar also provided details about the General Budget for 2025-26, which was recently presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
