Authorities on Wednesday at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport issued a travel advisory for travellers due to the extensive traffic disruptions and flight operations caused by the persistent rainfall that affected Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
The airport acknowledged the persistent bad weather in the capital in its statement, but it made it clear that all flight operations at Delhi Airport were currently proceeding as usual. Travellers were reassured by the advisory that teams on the ground were actively working with all parties involved to ensure a seamless passenger experience. To avoid delays brought on by flooded roads and traffic jams, travellers were advised to choose other forms of transportation, particularly the Delhi Metro.
SpiceJet also released an advisory, cautioning passengers that flight schedules may be impacted due to bad weather in Delhi. "Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via http://spicejet.com/#status," the airline said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The regional meteorological department issued a short-term alert predicting more rain within the next two hours after heavy rainfall hit Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and the surrounding NCR areas on Wednesday evening. Traffic jams were made worse by the unexpected downpour, which caused waterlogging in a number of places, including BD Marg, GRG Road, and other low-lying areas.

Delhi saw a minimum temperature of 26.4 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 35.6 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, despite the rain. Thankfully, the air quality stayed within the "satisfactory" range; at 4 pm, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 81.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that Delhi will experience light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and lightning at night. Thursday's forecast calls for mostly overcast skies and ongoing, moderate rainfall throughout the city.
