An IndiGo aircraft bound for Abu Dhabi was forced to return to Kochi on Saturday after a technical snag was detected mid-flight, prompting pilots to initiate precautionary measures.
Flight 6E 1403, operating from Kochi to the UAE capital, made a safe landing at Cochin International Airport, and all passengers and crew disembarked without incident. IndiGo confirmed that safety procedures were observed at every stage of the response.
“A technical issue was detected on IndiGo flight 6E 1403 operating from Kochi to Abu Dhabi on September 6, 2025. As a precautionary step, the pilots decided to turn back and the aircraft landed safely at Cochin International Airport. While the aircraft is undergoing necessary maintenance checks before resuming operations, an alternative aircraft was promptly arranged for customers to complete the journey,” the airline said in a statement.
An IndiGo spokesperson added that the aircraft is presently undergoing maintenance checks and passengers should confirm before future operations resume. The airline declined to specify the nature of the technical problem.

The carrier maintained that safety remained paramount, with an immediate arrangement made for an alternative aircraft to carry travellers to Abu Dhabi.
Earlier this week, the airline had also dealt with an incident of disruptive conduct on a domestic route. On September 1, a passenger travelling on IndiGo’s Delhi-Kolkata service was found intoxicated and accused of harassing cabin crew and disturbing fellow passengers. The man was declared unruly, handed over to security officials on arrival, and a formal complaint was lodged with the authorities.
“We are aware of an incident of unruly behaviour onboard IndiGo flight 6E 6571 operating from Delhi to Kolkata on September 1, 2025. One of the customers onboard, under the influence of alcohol, was found to be misbehaving with the cabin crew and disturbing fellow passengers. In line with established protocols, the said customer was declared unruly and was handed over to security upon arrival. A formal complaint was also lodged with the relevant authorities,” the airline said.
IndiGo reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behaviour, underscoring its commitment to ensuring a “safe, respectful, and inclusive environment” for all passengers and staff.
