The father of jailed Baramulla Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid passed away at a hospital in New Delhi on Monday morning. He was 85 years old, according to family sources.

 

“Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, father of Member of Parliament, Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, is no more,” Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi said.

 

The spokesperson appealed to the central government and the authorities concerned to immediately facilitate the release of the Baramulla MP so that he can participate in the last rites of his father and offer final prayers.

 

“No pain can be greater than a son being deprived of bidding a final farewell to his own father,” he added.

 

Engineer Rashid’s father had been ill for some time and was undergoing treatment, first in Srinagar and later in Delhi after doctors referred him to the national capital for advanced treatment.
