Jharkhand leaders reduced convoy sizes after PM Modi’s fuel-saving appeal, aiming to cut fuel use and promote energy conservation.

The appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fuel conservation and reduced use of petrol and diesel is now showing a visible impact in Jharkhand, with several top political leaders deciding to scale down their vehicle convoys in a bid to save fuel and promote responsible use of resources.

Taking a significant step in this direction, Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar announced a reduction in the number of vehicles in his official motorcade. In a post on X, the Governor said that, inspired by the Prime Minister’s appeal, he has decided to limit the Raj Bhavan convoy in Jharkhand to only four vehicles.

The Governor also appealed to public representatives and government officials to avoid unnecessary use of vehicles and actively participate in the public awareness campaign for energy conservation.

Meanwhile, several Union ministers and former chief ministers from Jharkhand have also announced major cuts in their convoys and security fleets.

Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth has decided to use only a single vehicle during his Ranchi visits. He has also started using motorcycles for short-distance travel.

Former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, whose convoy earlier consisted of six to seven vehicles, has now reduced it to just two. BJP state president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi also said he would cut down the number of vehicles in his convoy.

Similarly, former Chief Minister Champai Soren is travelling with only three vehicles, including two for security personnel and one for personal use. Former Chief Minister Arjun Munda has also limited his convoy to two vehicles.

Union Minister Annapurna Devi stated that during field visits, she would use only two vehicles — one for herself and another for staff and security personnel.

Leaders backing the move believe that such symbolic reductions can help cut fuel consumption during VIP movement by 60 to 70 percent and also send a strong public message on resource conservation.
