Jharkhand’s New Tiger Safari Near Betla National Park Announced.

Jharkhand is set to get its first Tiger Safari Project, which will be developed in the Putuwagarh area of Latehar district, located outside the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR).

The proposed safari aims to boost eco-tourism, provide livelihood opportunities for local residents, and offer visitors a closer glimpse of tigers and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

According to forest department officials, the site for the project has already been identified near Betla National Park. The area has been chosen strategically to ensure ecological balance while creating an engaging and safe experience for tourists.

The Tiger Safari will also strengthen the eco-tourism circuit stretching from Netarhat–Betla–Kecki to Mandal Dam, serving as an important addition to Jharkhand’s tourism infrastructure.

Authorities have assured that the safari will be developed in compliance with all prescribed environmental and wildlife protection standards. The project is expected to emerge as a model of sustainable tourism by integrating wildlife conservation with economic development in the region.

Once operational, the safari will generate employment for local villagers from Daltonganj, Barwadih, and Mandal Dam through roles in guiding, hospitality, and maintenance services.

It is also expected to attract more domestic and international tourists to the region, enhancing Jharkhand’s image as a promising wildlife destination.

The Tiger Safari Project symbolises the state’s renewed focus on wildlife conservation and responsible tourism, positioning Latehar as a key eco-tourism hub in eastern India.
