India reaffirmed its firm commitment to combating terrorism and urged the global community to hold Pakistan accountable for the terror attacks carried out against India. During the weekly media briefing, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasised the urgent need for international unity in the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Responding to a question about the ongoing multi-party delegation’s efforts, Jaiswal said, “There are seven delegations. Three delegations have already departed. This is a political mission aimed at strengthening our outreach to the world to clearly convey India’s resolve to fight terrorism. We want the world to unite against terrorism in all its forms. Importantly, we want to urge the international community to hold those responsible for cross-border terrorism accountable — those who have been practising it for the last 40 years against India, that is Pakistan. Their actions must be exposed and they must be held responsible for the terror attacks they have carried out against India.”

He further added, “That is the larger message — the unity and purpose of India.”

India had launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 people. The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists linked to groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Following the operation, Pakistan retaliated with cross-border shelling along the Line of Control and in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as attempted drone attacks near border areas. In response, India launched a coordinated counterattack that damaged radar infrastructure, communication centers, and airfields across 11 Pakistani airbases. On May 10, both countries announced an understanding to cease hostilities, temporarily easing tensions.

Meanwhile, an All-Party Parliamentary Delegation (APPD) led by Sanjay Kumar Jha has reached Tokyo. The delegation includes Ambassador Mohan Kumar, BJP MPs Hemang Joshi, Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, and Pradan Baruah, CPI(M) MP John Brittas, and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee.

The delegation’s purpose is to brief international partners on India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader efforts to combat cross-border terrorism. They will engage with leaders in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Singapore to garner support for India’s position and promote a unified global stance against terrorism.
