Modi grieves Konaseema firecracker factory blast in Andhra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of lives in the firecracker factory blast in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district on Wednesday.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a massive explosion and fire at a firecracker factory in Andhra Pradesh’s Konaseema district. The incident, which occurred in the afternoon, resulted in six deaths and several injuries.


In a post on X, PM Modi stated, “The loss of lives due to a mishap in Konaseema district, Andhra Pradesh, is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with the affected people and their families during this difficult time.” He also extended prayers for the swift recovery of those injured in the accident.

 

 


The explosion took place at the Lakshmi Ganapathi Fireworks unit in Komaripalem village, Rayavaram mandal. A powerful blast triggered a massive fire, causing the shed to collapse. Fire services and police promptly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. 


Authorities reported that six workers perished instantly, while eight others sustained injuries. Two critically injured individuals were admitted to a hospital in Anaparthy, and the remaining were transferred to private hospitals. Officials expressed concern that additional individuals may still be trapped under the debris.

The presence of chemical materials fuelled the rapid spread of the blaze, complicating firefighting efforts. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed profound shock over the tragedy, noting that the loss of lives caused immense grief. He communicated with senior officials to ascertain the cause of the accident, monitor ongoing relief efforts, and ensure medical support for the injured. “I have instructed senior officials to visit the incident site personally and participate in relief efforts,” Naidu said, pledging full support to the affected families.


Home Minister V. Anitha also extended her condolences and reviewed the situation with the district Superintendent of Police and fire officials to coordinate response measures.
