The National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to conduct a nationwide mock drill on Saturday as part of its preparations to guarantee a smooth and secure NEET UG 2026 re-examination. The exercise will commence at 9 am and run until late evening, with more than 250,000 security personnel expected to take part across the country.
All examination centres have already been handed over to the NTA. On the day of the test, these venues will operate under a three-tier security system designed to prevent any irregularities. Officials have confirmed that paramilitary forces will oversee the custody and security of question papers and answer booklets, while more than 5,000 centres nationwide will be monitored via CCTV surveillance alongside deployed security personnel. The primary objective of the mock drill is to evaluate overall preparedness, agency coordination, and the effectiveness of these security measures.
Meanwhile, in yet another move, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has also rejected a video doing rounds on social media claiming it to be a NEET UG 2026 re-examination paper and calling it a fraud. Tweeting a press release from the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the NTA clarified that the package shown in the video does not contain an OMR answer sheet, which is a mandatory addition in the booklets of all examinations.
The National Medical Commission (NMC), on the other hand, has directed all the medical colleges and institutes in the country to be on alert and not give any leave to the students on 20th and 21st June 2026 unless there are some compelling reasons. The move has been made with an aim to make sure that the re-test held on 21st June is fair and free from any malpractice.
Further, the Delhi High Court has, in a ruling delivered on Friday, sustained the decision taken by the Central Government to block access to the instant messaging application Telegram prior to the retake. The court concluded that the actions taken by the government in this regard were proportionate and narrowly tailored to address the issue of leakage and malpractices during examinations. This ruling was given by Justice Tejas Karia while rejecting the petition filed by Telegram.
