The Indian Armed Forces, in a decisive move under the banner of Operation Sindoor, carried out precision strikes on terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) on Wednesday. These strategic strikes were a direct response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, including 25 Indians and one Nepali national.
Operation Sindoor was meticulously planned to ensure its focused and measured execution. The strikes were designed to be non-escalatory, targeting specific locations tied to terrorist activities while avoiding any harm to Pakistani military installations.

The operation was not aimed at escalating tensions, and India made it clear in its official statement that a great deal of restraint was exercised, both in the selection of the targets and in the approach taken during the strikes. A total of nine terrorist sites were struck, believed to be involved in planning and directing attacks against India.
Following the successful operation, the Indian Army shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Justice is served," highlighting the completion of the mission and India’s resolve to bring those responsible for the Pahalgam attack to account.
An official press release further elaborated on the operation’s nature and objectives. It stressed that the terrorist infrastructure targeted was located in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and it was from these locations that attacks against India had been orchestrated.

The release emphasised that the actions were deliberate and restrained, with a clear intent to avoid escalating the situation. The Indian forces ensured that no Pakistani military installations were harmed in the process. India’s careful targeting reflected its commitment to holding those responsible for the barbaric Pahalgam attack accountable while avoiding unnecessary conflict.
The Indian government also cited strong evidence in support of the involvement of Pakistan-based terrorists in the Pahalgam attack. This evidence includes credible leads, technical inputs, testimonies from survivors, and additional intelligence gathered after the attack.
Despite this, the press release pointed out that, in the weeks following the incident, Pakistan had failed to take meaningful action against the terrorists and the infrastructure supporting them. Instead, Pakistan had resorted to denial and made unfounded claims of a false flag operation against India, further underscoring its failure to confront the real perpetrators of the attack.
India’s response through Operation Sindoor, therefore, serves as a clear message that those behind such acts of terrorism will face retribution, while India remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region.

PAKISTAN'S REACTION
In response to the Indian strikes carried out as part of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has vowed to retaliate at a time and place of its own choosing, according to a statement from the Pakistani military, as reported by AFP. The military also confirmed that at least three casualties were reported as a result of the strikes.
Pakistan’s Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, addressed the media, claiming that India had launched a series of air strikes targeting key locations within Pakistan.

He specifically mentioned that the attacks had struck the Subhanullah mosque in the Ahmed East area of Bahawalpur, as well as the regions of Kotli and Muzaffarabad. According to Lt Gen Chaudhry, the air strikes originated from within Indian airspace, and Pakistan had responded by scrambling jets from its Air Force.
Lt Gen Chaudhry further asserted that all Pakistan Air Force jets were airborne in readiness, signaling the country’s preparedness to defend itself against further aggression. The claim that the air strikes were launched from within Indian territory underscores the ongoing tension and military posturing between the two nations.
This marked response from Pakistan reflects its intent to demonstrate a resolute stance against the Indian strikes, with a promise of retaliation, although the specifics of such actions remain unclear at this stage.
PAKISTAN VIOLATES CEASEFIRE POST STRIKES
Shortly after the Indian Armed Forces executed precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army reported that Pakistan had once again violated the ceasefire agreement. In a statement shared via social media, the Army confirmed that Pakistani forces initiated artillery fire in the Bhimber Gali area, located in the sensitive Poonch-Rajauri sector along the Line of Control (LoC).
The Indian Army stated that it is responding to the provocation in a calibrated and appropriate manner, maintaining a controlled posture to avoid unnecessary escalation.
This latest ceasefire violation adds to a growing pattern of unprovoked aggression by Pakistan. According to Indian defense sources, Pakistan had already been engaging in nightly cross-border firing for eleven consecutive nights following the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 people. These repeated ceasefire breaches have further heightened tensions along the LoC and raised security concerns in the border regions.
In a separate development following the Indian airstrikes, Pakistan temporarily closed down operations at two of its major airports—Lahore and Sialkot. Both airports have been shut for a period of 48 hours, reportedly as a precautionary measure in the wake of rising military activity and regional tensions.
The sequence of events points to a steadily escalating situation between the two countries, with India maintaining a restrained yet firm stance in both its military and diplomatic responses.
TRUMP REACTS TO INDIA’S STRIKES UNDER OPERATION SINDOOR
U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday responded to the Indian military’s airstrikes on terror camps located within Pakistan, describing the situation as “a shame” and calling on both India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and work toward de-escalation.
Addressing reporters, President Trump said, “It’s a shame. We just heard about it. They’ve been fighting for a long time. They have been fighting for many, many decades... and centuries, actually. I just hope it ends very quickly.” His comments came in the wake of India’s precision military action under ‘Operation Sindoor’, which was carried out in response to the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department also issued a brief statement through its spokesperson, telling news agency ANI, “We are aware of the reports. However, we have no assessment to offer at this time. This remains an evolving situation, and we are closely monitoring developments.” The cautious tone from the State Department reflects Washington’s intent to stay informed while refraining from immediate judgment amid heightened tensions in South Asia.
A more detailed briefing on Operation Sindoor and its implications is scheduled to take place later today, as international attention continues to focus on the unfolding military and diplomatic developments between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
