More than a dozen private schools in Gurugram received bomb threat emails on Tuesday morning, prompting authorities to evacuate campuses and send students home as a precautionary measure.

Officials from the district administration said at least 12 schools reported receiving threatening emails, though the exact number was still being verified as authorities contacted other institutions that may have received similar messages.

Most of the affected schools were evacuated in accordance with standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of students and staff.

A senior district administration official said several prominent schools located on Golf Course Road, Sector-14 and other parts of the city were among those that received the emails.

“All these premises were sanitised after carrying out the evacuation process. Till now, we have received information from at least 12 schools about threat email. We are contacting other schools to ascertain the exact count,” the official said.

Following the alerts, police teams and specialised units were deployed across the affected institutions to carry out security checks.

According to Sandeep Turan, public relations officer of the Gurugram Police, bomb detection and disposal squads were pressed into service to thoroughly examine the school premises.

Police personnel carried out sanitisation operations and inspected the campuses to rule out any suspicious objects or explosives.

“Police teams along with bomb detection and disposal squads were pressed into action to sanitise the school premises. Investigation is going on in the case,” Turan said.

Students were sent home after the evacuation process to prevent panic and ensure their safety while security checks were conducted.

Authorities said the schools followed emergency protocols, which include immediate evacuation, restricting entry to the premises and allowing security teams to conduct detailed inspections.

Officials are also trying to trace the origin of the threat emails and identify those responsible.

Incidents of hoax bomb threats targeting educational institutions have been reported in several cities in recent months, often leading to large-scale evacuations and security operations.

Authorities said further investigation is underway and additional security measures may be taken depending on the outcome of the probe.
