Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the closing ceremony of the second WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine on Friday. The three-day event, taking place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, highlights India's increasing leadership and innovative efforts in advancing a global agenda for traditional medicine that is grounded in science and centred on people.
“Prime Minister Modi has constantly emphasised for mainstreaming traditional medicine and the Indian Knowledge System through research, standardisation, and global collaboration,” the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) stated on Thursday.
As part of the ceremony, the Prime Minister will inaugurate several significant Ayush initiatives, notably the My Ayush Integrated Services Portal (MAISP), designed as a comprehensive digital platform serving as the central hub for the Ayush sector. Additionally, he will introduce the Ayush Mark, intended to serve as an international standard for ensuring the quality of Ayush products and services.
The Prime Minister is also set to release the WHO technical report on training in Yoga, along with the publication titled “From Roots to Global Reach: 11 Years of Transformation in Ayush”.
In a gesture reflecting the worldwide appreciation of India's traditional medicinal legacy, he will unveil a commemorative postal stamp featuring Ashwagandha.
The Prime Minister will honour the awardees of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Outstanding Contribution to the Promotion and Development of Yoga, covering the years 2021-2025, acknowledging their enduring commitment to advancing yoga and its international outreach.

These awards highlight yoga's enduring value as a practice promoting balance, well-being, and harmony, while supporting the vision of a healthier and more resilient New India.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister will tour the Traditional Medicine Discovery Space, an exhibition that illustrates the richness, profundity, and modern significance of traditional medicine systems from India and various parts of the world.
The Summit, running from December 17 to 19, is co-hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Ayush, under the theme “Restoring balance: The science and practice of health and well-being”.
Throughout the event, there have been in-depth discussions involving global leaders, policymakers, scientists, practitioners, holders of Indigenous knowledge, and civil society members, focused on promoting health systems that are equitable, sustainable, and based on robust evidence.
