Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched two major schemes PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses in the agriculture sector, with a total outlay of Rs 35,440 crore.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the schemes during a special Krishi programme at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, marking the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan.
The PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, with an outlay of Rs 24,000 crore, aims to enhance agricultural productivity, promote crop diversification and sustainable farming practices, improve post-harvest storage at the panchayat and block levels, strengthen irrigation facilities, and facilitate the availability of both long-term and short-term credit in 100 selected districts, according to a release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, with an outlay of Rs 11,440 crore, seeks to boost productivity levels of pulses, expand the area under pulse cultivation, strengthen the value chain including procurement, storage, and processing and minimise post-harvest losses.
During the event, Prime Minister Modi interacted with farmers, reaffirming his government’s commitment to farmer welfare, agricultural self-reliance, and the development of rural infrastructure.
The programme focused on promoting modern agricultural practices, empowering farmers, and celebrating key milestones achieved under various farmer-centric initiatives.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated projects worth over Rs 5,450 crore in the agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing sectors, while laying the foundation stone for additional projects valued at around Rs 815 crore, the release stated.

The inaugurated projects include the Artificial Insemination Training Centre at Bengaluru and in Jammu and Kashmir, Centres of Excellence at Amreli and Banas, an IVF laboratory in Assam under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, milk powder plants in Mehsana, Indore, and Bhilwara, and a fish feed plant under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana at Tezpur, Assam. Infrastructure projects for agro-processing clusters, integrated cold chain systems, and value addition facilities were also launched.
Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for several upcoming projects, including an Integrated Cold Chain and Value Addition Infrastructure (Irradiation) unit in Krishna, Andhra Pradesh; Trout Fisheries in Uttarakhand; an Integrated Aqua Park in Nagaland; a Smart and Integrated Fishing Harbour in Karaikal, Puducherry; and a state-of-the-art Integrated Aquapark in Hirakud, Odisha, among others.
The programme highlighted key achievements under various government initiatives, including 50 lakh farmer memberships across 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), of which 1,100 recorded an annual turnover of over Rs 1 crore in 2024–25. Other milestones included the certification of 50,000 farmers under the National Mission for Natural Farming, certification of 38,000 MAITRIs (Multi-Purpose AI Technicians in Rural India), and the sanctioning and operationalisation of over 10,000 multipurpose and e-PACS for computerisation.
Additionally, several Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy, and fishery cooperative societies have been formed and strengthened. Over 10,000 PACS have diversified their operations to function as Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSKs) and Common Service Centres (CSCs), according to the release.
