Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to Uttar Pradesh on April 28, during which he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth around Rs 6,350 crore and address multiple public gatherings.
According to an official statement, Modi will first visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, where he will participate in a Mahila Sammelan and interact with women attendees from across the region. He will dedicate 48 completed projects worth over Rs 1,050 crore to the nation and lay the foundation stone for 112 new projects valued at around Rs 5,300 crore.
Key infrastructure initiatives include the widening of the Varanasi-Azamgarh Road, construction of rail over bridges at Kazzakpura and Kadipur, and a 55 MLD sewage treatment plant at Bhagwanpur. The projects are aimed at improving urban infrastructure and connectivity in the region.
In a push to enhance rail connectivity, the Prime Minister will also flag off two new Amrit Bharat Express trains, linking Varanasi to Pune (Hadapsar) and Ayodhya to Mumbai (Lokmanya Tilak Terminus). Officials said the services are expected to benefit pilgrims, students, migrant workers and small traders travelling between Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

On April 29, Modi will perform darshan and pooja at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple before travelling to Hardoi to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway and address a public meeting.
The Ganga Expressway is a 594-km-long, six-lane (expandable to eight lanes) access-controlled corridor built at an estimated cost of Rs 36,230 crore. The expressway will pass through 12 districts, including Meerut, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi and Prayagraj, connecting western, central and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Once operational, the corridor is expected to reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from 10–12 hours to around six hours, significantly improving connectivity and logistics efficiency.
A notable feature of the project is a 3.5-km emergency landing facility in Shahjahanpur district, designed to support both civilian and defence operations.
Officials said the expressway would also integrate with other major road corridors, strengthening the state’s transport network and boosting economic activity, tourism and regional development.
The visit is expected to underscore the Centre’s focus on infrastructure, connectivity and socio-economic development in Uttar Pradesh.
