Prashant Kishor on hunger strike in Patna, demanding cancellation of BPSC CCE 2024 over paper leak allegations, on Sunday.

Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor joined students protesting against the Bihar Civil Services (BPSC) exam early Sunday morning, urging RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to take charge of the agitation.

Speaking to reporters, Kishor emphasised the importance of student issues over politics.

"Tejashwi Yadav is a prominent leader and the Leader of Opposition. He should lead these protests. We are here without any party banner, focused solely on the students' agenda. Politics can wait; addressing student concerns is the priority," he said.

Around 1 am, despite dense fog, Kishor arrived at the protest site to express solidarity with the students.

They are demanding the cancellation of the Integrated Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, conducted by BPSC on December 13, alleging a question paper leak.

"This is not just a protest; it's the passion of Bihar’s youth for a better future. In this cold, people from all walks of life are here, singing and supporting the cause. I’m here with them and will stay the night," Kishor said, addressing allegations that his participation was political.

When asked about his health during the fast, Kishor reassured supporters, saying, "I am fine, just a bit tired. The doctors advised rest, but there’s no serious issue."

Tejashwi Yadav, however, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of politicising the BPSC protests. "This independent student movement is being hijacked by people aligned with the BJP. Bihar's people must recognise this and condemn such actions," Yadav told reporters on Saturday.

He also dismissed Kishor's involvement, referring to allegations about a vanity van used during the protests. "The protest’s focus is being diverted. It’s like an actor in a vanity van directed by a producer. We all know who the producer and director are in this case," Yadav remarked.

The students’ primary demand remains the cancellation of the BPSC examination, highlighting issues of fairness and integrity in the recruitment process.
