President Murmu confers 2025 National Florence Nightingale Awards

The recipients of this year’s awards included individuals from various states and union territories, representing the categories of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), Lady Health Visitor (LHV), and Staff Nurse.

President Droupadi Murmu confers the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.


President Droupadi Murmu on Friday presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2025 to nursing professionals from across India in recognition of their exceptional contributions to healthcare. The award ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan and acknowledged nurses for their meritorious service in diverse regions, especially in underserved and remote areas. 


The recipients of this year’s awards included individuals from various states and union territories, representing the categories of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), Lady Health Visitor (LHV), and Staff Nurse.


Among the ANM category, the award was conferred on Reba Rani Sarkar from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Valiveti Subhavathi from Andhra Pradesh, Saroj Fakirbhai Patel from Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, Raziya Beegum P B from Lakshadweep, and Sujata Ashok Bagul from Maharashtra. In the LHV category, Bina Pani Deka from Assam was honoured for her service. 


The Staff Nurse category saw awards given to Kijum Sora Karga from Arunachal Pradesh, Dimple Arora and Major General Sheena P D from Delhi, Dr Banu M R from Karnataka, Leimapokpam Ranjita Devi from Manipur, V Lalhmangaihi from Mizoram, L S Manimozhi from Puducherry, K Alamelu Mangayarkarasi from Tamil Nadu, and Doli Biswas from West Bengal.


In addition to this ceremony, on Thursday, President Murmu inaugurated a two-day literary conference titled “How Much Has Literature Changed?” at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. In her address, she reflected on her long-standing admiration for literature and the role of writers in society. 


She shared that her respect for literature began during her student days and has only grown deeper with time. It had always been her wish that literary figures from across India be welcomed to Rashtrapati Bhavan, and she expressed happiness that this event had made it possible.


The President appreciated the Ministry of Culture and the Sahitya Akademi for organizing the conference and spoke about the country’s vast linguistic and literary diversity. She emphasised that despite the multitude of languages and traditions, there exists a unifying thread of Indianness that resonates through all literary forms. President Murmu expressed that she considers every language and dialect of India her own and embraces the literature of all regions as part of the nation’s shared cultural wealth.
