RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Navratna PSE, has bagged an important contract worth ₹454.95 crore to implement the indigenous KAVACH ATPS technology across the Jabalpur division of West Central Railway. In an official statement, it is stated that the scope of work includes 1,067 route kilometers, which includes high density areas such as the Itarsi-Manikpur section and the whole of the Katni complex.
This mega-project will be executed within 960 days and includes all aspects from the initial stages of design and survey to the implementation of trackside equipment, tower systems, and optical fiber cables through an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contract model.
Kavach, developed through the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aims to prevent collisions, over-speeding, and passing on a danger signal, considerably enhancing safety and reliability.
RailTel is already working on similar projects covering over 1,100 kilometers on the East Central Railway. RailTel’s MD Sanjai Kumar proudly said that the order gives him great pride to be able to provide rail infrastructure services to the nation and to be a part of the Railways’ mission to make India’s rail network one of the safest in the world.
