Russia has assured India of its unwavering support in the fight against all forms of terrorism and pledged to expedite the delivery of pending military supplies, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said.
Seth was in Moscow to represent India at the 80th anniversary celebrations marking the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II. During his visit, he met with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin to discuss the deepening of military and technical cooperation between the two countries.
“Russia assured that it will support us in our battle against all manifestations of terrorism and confirmed that cooperation between our nations will continue to progress in accordance with existing agreements,” Seth said before departing for New Delhi.
He added that Russia had given its commitment to promptly fulfilling all military orders currently in the pipeline.
During their discussions, both sides agreed to strengthen bilateral defence ties through ongoing frameworks and regular consultations. Seth also expressed gratitude to the Russian leadership for their consistent support to India in addressing cross-border terrorism.

As part of his official engagements, the minister laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, paying homage to fallen soldiers.
On Friday, Seth addressed members of the Indian community in Moscow, reflecting on the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries. “The colder the weather in Russia, the warmer the friendship with India,” he remarked, noting the unusually cold temperatures in Moscow for the month of May.
Speaking about his interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Seth said he was deeply impressed by the Russian leader's humility. “I had an opportunity to meet President Putin three times. He greeted me warmly and left a lasting impression with his humble nature,” he said.
Seth was designated to represent India at the Victory Day parade in light of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh being unable to travel due to rising tensions with Pakistan following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
