Saif Ali Khan is out of danger after undergoing multiple surgeries following a stabbing incident at his Mumbai home early on Thursday. The actor suffered six stab wounds and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries.
Saif’s team confirmed that he is currently in recovery, and all family members are safe, while the police continue their investigation into the incident.
A statement issued by Saif’s team read, "Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident."
Saif’s team also expressed gratitude to the medical team at Lilavati Hospital and to fans for their support.
Khan had six injuries, two of which were deeper. One of the injuries was closer to his spine.
He was operated on by neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi.
The extent of the damage would be reported shortly by the doctors.
"We would like to thank Dr Niraj Uttamani, Dr Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain and the team at Lilavati Hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time," the statement concluded.
Earlier, Kareena Kapoor’s team clarified the incident, stating that Saif was injured during an attempted burglary at their residence.
"There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan's residence last night. Saif had an injury on his arm for which he is in the hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine," the statement said.
