Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday said the group was preparing for another round of protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, describing the proposed agitation as “Season 2”.
“Many people were commenting on Instagram when Season 2 of Jantar-Mantar will begin. I want to tell them that Season 2 of Jantar-Mantar is going to start very soon,” Dipke said.
His remarks come weeks after a major student-led protest at Jantar Mantar over alleged examination irregularities, paper leaks, student suicides and demands for reforms in the education system.
The earlier agitation, which drew large numbers of students and supporters, also led to political pressure on the government. The CJP subsequently said it would continue working as a pressure group rather than function solely as a protest platform.
Dipke alleges pressure on CJP meeting
Dipke also alleged that the organisation faced difficulties in finding a venue for a volunteers’ meeting in Delhi, claiming several hall owners refused to rent space because of “pressure from above”.
He said the group eventually booked a venue but alleged that its owners were threatened on the morning of the meeting.
“We had managed to secure this hall with great difficulty. We even have the receipt for it. However, the owners received threats this morning,” Dipke said.
He blamed the BJP for the alleged pressure and claimed such actions reflected concern over the growing youth movement. The allegations could not be independently verified.
Dipke’s announcement signals that the CJP intends to return to street mobilisation even as it expands its activities beyond the earlier education-focused agitation.
The group has also announced campaigns focused on education and government schools, including its proposed “School Thik Karo” campaign for Independence Day.
