The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024 on April 22. Candidates who appeared for the prestigious exam can now check their results on the official website — upsc.gov.in.
This year, Shakti Dubey has secured All India Rank 1, emerging as the UPSC CSE 2024 topper. She is followed by Harshita Goyal at Rank 2 and Dongre Archit Parag at Rank 3, completing the top three positions in one of the most competitive examinations in India.
A long journey of dedication and discipline
Shakti Dubey, a native of Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, cleared the exam with Political Science and International Relations as her optional subject. Her journey to the top has been a long and determined one — she began her UPSC preparation in 2018 and has spent the last seven years committed to her goal.
In a mock interview video on YouTube, Shakti reflected on her UPSC journey, emphasising the importance of resilience and consistency. Her achievement is a remarkable example of perseverance paying off.
Academic roots in Uttar Pradesh: From Allahabad to Varanasi
Shakti completed her schooling in Prayagraj and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Allahabad. Initially inclined towards the sciences, she went on to pursue postgraduate studies in Biochemistry at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. Her academic record showcases a strong foundation in both science and the humanities, a combination that served her well in the UPSC examination.
Inspiration from home: A civil services dream
Despite her academic background in Biochemistry, Shakti was inspired to pursue a career in civil services due to her family environment. Her father serves in the police force, and his dedication to public service left a lasting impression on her. This familial influence played a key role in shaping her aspirations and guiding her towards government service.
