Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Karakat on Friday, lauded Operation Sindoor and said he had returned to Bihar after fulfilling the promise he made to the nation to retaliate against the Pahalgam terror attack. Recalling the horrific events in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, where several innocent civilians were killed, the Prime Minister said that India had avenged the attack with decisive action.
"Even the name of the land Sasaram carries the name of Ram. The people of Sasaram know the customs of Lord Ram. 'Praan jaaye par vachan na jaaye'... Just a day after the dreadful terrorist attack in Pahalgam, I made a promise to the nation from the soil of Bihar that the hideouts of the masters of terrorism would be reduced to dust that they would face a punishment beyond their imagination. Today, I have come to Bihar, I have returned after fulfilling my promise," the Prime Minister told the crowd.
He declared that the world had now witnessed the might of Indian daughters and the determination symbolised by their "sindoor." He accused Pakistan of shielding terrorists under the cover of its military but asserted that Indian forces had crushed that sense of impunity. “The power of 'Sindoor' of the daughters of India... this was seen by Pakistan as well as the world! The terrorists considered themselves safe under the protection of the Pakistani Army... our forces brought them to their knees in one stroke,” he said.
PM Modi was accompanied at the rally by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary. The event also served as the venue for the inauguration and foundation stone laying of multiple development projects in the state, collectively worth over ₹48,520 crore.
Among the most significant projects was the foundation stone laying for Stage-II of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad district. The new stage of the plant, designed with a capacity of 3x800 MW, is valued at more than ₹29,930 crore and is expected to enhance electricity generation, support industrial development, and generate employment opportunities across the region.
PM Modi also announced a series of major road infrastructure initiatives. These include the four-laning of the Patna-Arrah-Sasaram section of National Highway 119A, the six-laning of the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata highway (NH-319B), the Ramnagar-Kacchi Dargah stretch (NH-119D), and the construction of a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli. Waving the Tricolour and raising slogans, people gathered in large numbers along the route. Many stood on rooftops and balconies, eager to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister as he passed.
