National Testing Agency (NTA) sources have clarified that a viral image purporting to show the OMR sheet of a Re-NEET candidate is a digitally altered version, and that the student's result stands as originally declared based on his genuine paperwork. The clarification follows a social media post shared by the Congress party, which amplified allegations made by the candidate's father.
The family had claimed that the OMR sheet uploaded by the NTA belonged to a different candidate, named Ajit Singh, and accused the agency of irregularities during the Re-NEET examination, whilst also criticising Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
In response to these claims, NTA sources stated that the image circulating online does not match the official records. The sources pointed out that the viral image contains incorrect serial numbers, spelling mistakes in the instructions at the top of the sheet, and faulty field labels. In addition, the body pointed out that the name “Ajeet Singh, son of Shri Lakhan Singh and Smt. Reena Singh,” appearing on the forged paper, does not match any candidate appearing in NEET (UG) 2026 exam.
As per the NTA, the formal representation provided by the family of the candidate was already carefully looked into by the body before the social media issue became heated. Officials have sent a letter to the family, putting the facts in writing and appending a copy of the genuine OMR sheet.
