The Janvadi Party (Socialist) officially ended its alliance with the Samajwadi Party on Thursday, citing disagreements over seat distribution. Sanjay Chauhan, the founder and national president of the Janvadi Party (Socialist), made the announcement, stating that differences between the two parties led to this decision.
This development follows the recent split between the Samajwadi Party and the Kurmi OBC-based Apna Dal (Kamerawadi). With this separation, the Janvadi Party is now able to nominate candidates for 11 seats in Uttar Pradesh independently. Notably, despite being in alliance with the Samajwadi Party during the 2022 elections, the Janvadi Party failed to secure any seats. Presently, the Janvadi Party lacks significant representation in Uttar Pradesh, with no sitting MLAs.
In previous elections, the Janvadi Socialist Party had aligned with the BJP in 2007 and 2012 but failed to secure any seats in the state.
In response to media inquiries on Thursday, Akhilesh Yadav, president of the Samajwadi Party and former chief minister, acknowledged the end of their alliance with Apna Dal (Kameravadi), clarifying that the partnership would not continue into the 2024 elections.
Meanwhile, Apna Dal (K) declared intentions to field three candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls for seats in Phoolpur, Mirzapur, and Kaushambi in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Notably, these seats were won by the BJP in 2019. Additionally, the Samajwadi Party announced six more nominees for the general elections, including a candidate for Mirzapur, which had been claimed by Apna Dal (K).
