Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Rakesh Kumar is the richest candidate in the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir, as revealed by the affidavits submitted to the Returning Officer. The ruling National Conference spokesperson, Imran Nabi Dar, has declared the lowest assets.
According to the affidavit, Rakesh Kumar leads the list, with declared assets worth Rs 33.67 crore — including Rs 2.39 crore in movable assets and Rs 31.28 crore in immovable property. His liabilities stand at Rs 4.40 crore, while his spouse’s income for 2023–24 was Rs 8.61 lakh. BJP has no criminal cases pending against him.
Behind him is NC veteran leader Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, with declared assets valued at Rs 12.64 crore. His affidavit mentions Rs 77.26 lakh in movable assets (self and spouse) and immovable property worth Rs 11.87 crore, comprising Rs 55.77 lakh in self-acquired and Rs 7.25 crore in inherited property. Ramzan reported no liabilities or dues.
Another NC candidate, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, has declared total assets of Rs 7.64 crore, including Rs 43.77 lakh in movable income for 2024-25, and Rs 15.90 lakh. No criminal cases are pending against him either.
Gurisinder Singh Oberai, also from the NC, has assets worth Rs 7.16 crore, Rs 2.03 crore in movable property (Self and HUF), and Rs 5.13 crore in immovable holdings. He has no liabilities and has filed his income tax returns for both 2023–24 and 2024–25.
BJP’s Sat Paul Sharma declared assets worth Rs 4.06 crore, including Rs 2.99 crore in movable property (self, spouse, and dependent) and Rs 1.07 crore in immovable assets. His combined household income exceeds Rs 20 lakh, and he has no liabilities or government dues.
Meanwhile, Dr Ali Mohammad Mir of the BJP stands out for declaring movable or immovable assets, no liabilities, and no income tax returns.
At the bottom of the chart, NC’s Imran Nabi Dar declared total assets of just Rs 5.38 lakh — Rs 2.98 lakh in movable and Rs 3.40 lakh in immovable property.
