RCB have once again enjoyed a dominant campaign.

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad will both be aiming for a coveted top-two finish when they face off in their final league-stage encounter of the IPL season on Friday.

RCB currently occupy the top spot on the points table with 18 points and also boast the best net run rate among all 10 teams at 1.065. A win in Friday’s clash would ensure they finish first in the standings, giving them two chances to secure a place in the final.

SRH, on the other hand, are placed third with 16 points from 13 matches. They are level on points with Gujarat Titans but trail them on net run rate. Hyderabad have an NRR of 0.350, slightly behind Gujarat’s 0.400, and their hopes of breaking into the top two depend on registering a convincing win over RCB while also relying on Chennai Super Kings to defeat Gujarat Titans.

RCB have once again enjoyed a dominant campaign under captain Rajat Patidar, with a strong combination of aggressive batting and disciplined bowling making them one of the strongest contenders for the title for the second consecutive season.

Star batter Virat Kohli has continued his remarkable consistency at the top of the order, scoring 542 runs in 13 matches so far. Devdutt Padikkal has also played several important knocks, adding stability and firepower to the batting line-up.

RCB’s bowling attack has been equally impressive, with the experienced pace pair of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood leading the charge. Bhuvneshwar has consistently struck with the new ball and remains among the top wicket-takers this season, while Hazlewood has delivered crucial breakthroughs during pressure situations.

All-rounder Krunal Pandya has also made valuable contributions with both bat and ball, using his variations effectively to trouble opposition batters. Leg-spinner Suyash Sharma and all-rounder Romario Shepherd too have chipped in with impactful performances throughout the campaign.

RCB will enter the contest as favourites against an inconsistent SRH side, which had appeared to regain momentum after winning five consecutive matches before slipping to two defeats in their last four outings.

Despite their inconsistency, SRH possess one of the most explosive batting line-ups in the tournament. Players such as Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen have the ability to dismantle any bowling attack on their day.

However, batting inconsistency has hurt SRH at crucial moments this season, with collapses proving costly in several matches. The former champions will be eager to address those shortcomings before heading into the knockout phase.

One major positive for Hyderabad has been the leadership of captain Pat Cummins and the emergence of promising young fast bowlers in the squad.
Sri Lankan pacer Eshan Malinga has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the season, regularly producing breakthroughs and maintaining tight lines under pressure situations.

Cummins himself has brought added intensity and control to the bowling unit after returning from injury midway through the tournament, providing SRH with both tactical sharpness and greater balance with the ball.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7.30 pm.
