Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in a nail-biting last-ball finish to climb to the top of the IPL 2026 points table on Sunday night.
RCB clinched a dramatic two-wicket victory off the final delivery of the match.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted 166 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. RCB successfully chased down the target on the last ball.
The chase became tense after RCB suffered an early collapse in the power play, slumping to 39 for 3. Captain Rajat Patidar later admitted that his side made the chase more difficult than it needed to be.
“I don’t think we deserved to win the match because with our batting line-up, we should be chasing this target easily,” Patidar said during the post-match press conference.
Despite the early struggle, Krunal Pandya played a match-winning knock of 73 off 46 balls. He, along with English batsman Jacob Bethell, forged a crucial partnership that revived RCB’s hopes.
“I think it’s normal now, but it was a very tight match. Overall, I think it was a great game and especially KP (Krunal Pandya). I think he’s the man who’s done it for the team,” Patidar added.
Brief Scores:
MI: 166/7 in 20 overs
RCB: 167/8 in 20 overs
