Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by five wickets in an IPL match at the Chepauk Stadium on Monday night. Batting first, CSK managed to put up a decent 180 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. SRH chased down the target in 19 overs with five wickets to spare.
It was all Ishan Kishan's show as he took his side to seal a playoff berth in this year’s IPL edition.
Kishan scored a brilliant 70 off 47 balls on a slightly difficult track and ensured his team did not have to bother playing more games or depend on other results for qualification.
Kishan not only stole the show with the bat but also mocked the CSK crowd by doing the ‘whistle’ gesture.
He was excited to finish the game, which was clearly reflected in his post-match celebration. He deserved every bit of it since he steered his side to safety in this all-important game on a difficult batting surface.
In the post-match presentation, Kishan admitted that he faced some difficulty but said, "I think, when I was wicket-keeping, I just felt like this wicket was not easy.
I still felt chasing this total was going to be a bit too much because the wicket was not at all easy, especially when spinners were bowling and those slow balls were working out very well.
But at the same time, as a number three batter, I just felt my job is to try and finish the game because batters coming in, especially at the back end, find it difficult for them to take singles and at the same time score boundaries. So I had to just play it till the last over."
