Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday paid rich tributes to the fallen heroes of the 2001 Parliament attack.
He said the heroism of those killed in the attack and their selfless sacrifice for the nation will continue to inspire future generations in the country.
The attack on this day in 2001 was carried out by five JeM terrorists. However, brave personnel of the Parliament Security Service, the CRPF and the Delhi Police foiled the attack, ensuring that no terrorist was able to enter the Parliament premises.
In a post on X, Sinha wrote, “My sincere tributes to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the dastardly attack on our Parliament in 2001.”
Separately, at a ceremony held at the Lok Bhavan Auditorium in Srinagar, Sinha distributed 39 appointment letters to the next of kin of those killed in terror-related violence in the city on Saturday.
Earlier, Sinha had distributed 41 appointment letters to the next of kin of terror victims in the Jammu division. He said nine more families impacted by the recent accidental explosion at the Nowgam police station had been given employment letters on Friday.
