As many as three soldiers were injured in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district due to an alleged fratricide incident, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, an Army soldier reportedly opened fire on his colleagues at an Army camp in the Trehgam area on Saturday night.
Three soldiers were injured during the incident before the erring jawan was overpowered, they said.
All the injured jawans were quickly shifted to the local military hospital, officials said, adding that further details surrounding the incident are awaited.
Meanwhile, Army officials and public relations officers are yet to issue a formal comment on the matter.
Back in December 2025, a junior commissioned officer (JCO), Subedar Surjeet Singh, was killed in a firing incident at the Bari Brahmana camp.
While the case was reported last year, the investigation continued into early 2026.
