Four police personnel, including two Station House Officers (SHOs), were booked in connection with the suicide of police constable Mansoor Alam in Koderma district of Jharkhand.' The case was registered at Chandwara police station on the complaint of Alam’s wife, Sahina Bibi, alleging that the accused officers provoked her husband to take his own life.

The accused include Jayanagar SHO Bablu Singh, Domchanch SHO Om Prakash Yadav, ASI Arvind Hansda posted at Jayanagar police station, and Sapahi picket in-charge Ramesh Marandi.

Mansoor Alam had consumed a toxic pesticide on September 1 inside the police lines, leading to his death. Before committing suicide, he had released a video in which he accused the four officers of framing him in false cases and getting him suspended.

Following the incident, the Jharkhand Police Men’s Association members met Koderma SP Anudeep Singh, demanding a thorough probe into the matter. The victim’s wife also filed a written complaint seeking strict action against the officers named by her husband.

Headquarters DSP Ratibhan Singh confirmed that, based on the complaint, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against all four policemen, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Police Men’s Association has expressed displeasure over what it termed a mere “formality” by the police administration.

Association’s state vice-president Rahman Khan said that during the condolence ceremony held at Chandwara police lines, he had urged SP Anudeep Singh to immediately suspend the accused officers and initiate departmental proceedings.

Khan added that merely filing a case without suspension amounts to betrayal of the deceased constable’s family. He warned that if the SP does not suspend the accused officers soon, the association will meet DGP Anurag Gupta and Chief Minister Hemant Soren to press for action against the culprits.
