Four people lost their lives, and 11 others were injured in a road accident in Jalandhar district, Punjab, on Monday. The accident happened when a bus crashed into a tractor-trolley carrying bricks, according to the police.
The accident took place near the Kala Bakra area when a bus traveling from Rajasthan to Jammu collided with the tractor-trolley. The tractor-trolley was coming from a village road and entered the Jalandhar-Pathankot highway when the bus hit it.
The impact of the crash was severe. The bus driver and a passenger died at the scene, while two more passengers succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The injured were quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He shared his condolences with the families of those who died and wished the injured a quick recovery. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured," he posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Mann also appreciated the efforts of Punjab Police's ‘Sadak Surakhya Force’ (Road Safety Force) for helping the injured at the accident site. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, and more details are expected soon.
