A four-year-old boy lost an eye in a stray dog attack in Bhuvanagiri, Telangana, on Thursday evening, sparking panic among residents and raising serious concerns over the growing menace of stray dogs in the area.
According to police, the incident occurred in Taraka Ram Nagar when the child, identified as Priyansh, was playing outside his home. Two stray dogs suddenly attacked him, and before anyone could intervene, one of the animals bit him severely on the face, causing critical injuries.
Locals described the attack as extremely violent, stating that the boy lost his eyeball in the assault. Hearing his screams, family members and nearby residents rushed to the spot and found him bleeding profusely. The dogs were chased away, and the injured child was immediately taken to the Bhuvanagiri Government Hospital.
Doctors administered first aid before referring him to a hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment due to the severity of his condition.
In a separate incident on the same day, a 10-year-old boy was bitten by a stray dog in RB Nagar Colony, further intensifying fear among residents. Locals said such attacks have become increasingly frequent, particularly endangering children playing outdoors.
Angered by the incidents, residents have demanded urgent action from municipal authorities to address the stray dog issue. Many questioned the lack of effective measures and warned that the situation could worsen if immediate steps are not taken to control the population and ensure public safety.
