Seven policemen in Meerut have been suspended for failing to handle cow slaughter cases properly in the Sakoti area, officials said on Sunday.

On December 11, Meerut SSP Vipin Tada suspended the entire police outpost in Khiwai for neglecting to stop cow slaughter cases in the area.

All station house officers (SHOs) in the district were instructed to take strict action against cow slaughter and warned that they would face consequences if they failed.

After the Khiwai incident, another cow slaughter case was reported in Sakoti on Saturday. As a result, sub-inspector Ajit Singh, trainee sub-inspectors Varun Kumar and Sachin Babu, head constables Abhishek Kumar and Rahul Kumar, and constables Saddam and Pratap, who were posted at the Sakoti police outpost, were suspended by SSP Tada.

Despite repeated instructions from senior officials, the officers failed to prevent such incidents in the area.
