Nine people returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj tragically lost their lives and five others were injured in two separate road accidents in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur and Maihar districts on Tuesday morning.
In the first incident, a truck collided with a mini-bus in Jabalpur, killing seven of the passengers. The victims were traveling back to Andhra Pradesh after attending the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The crash occurred around 8:30 am near Sihora, a town located 65 kilometers from the district headquarters.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck was travelling on the wrong side of the highway, which led to the collision. Seven people died on the spot, and several others were trapped inside the mini-bus. Local authorities, including Collector Deepak Kumar Saxena and Jabalpur’s Superintendent of Police, immediately traveled to the site of the accident.
In the second accident, which occurred in Maihar, two people lost their lives, and five others were injured when an unidentified vehicle struck their SUV near Kanchanpur village on National Highway 30 at around 4 am.

The group was returning to Indore from Prayagraj when the incident took place.
The injured were initially treated in Amarpatan before being referred to Satna District Hospital for further care. The deceased were identified as Manju Sharma (32) and Manoj Vishwakarma (42). Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the vehicle responsible for the crash.
Both accidents have deeply saddened the local communities, and investigations are ongoing.
