Anshit Kumar from the Arts stream appeared as the overall topper in the Himachal Pradesh Board Class 12 examinations, scoring 99.02 per cent marks. The overall pass percentage rose to 92.02 per cent in 2026.
Girls once again outshined boys in the examination. Out of 76 students featured in the combined top-10 merit list, 60 are girls while 16 are boys.
Announcing the results of Arts, Science and Commerce streams, HP Board of School Education Chairman Rajesh Sharma said 81,417 students appeared in the exam across 2,384 centres in the state. Out of them, 74,637 students passed, taking the overall pass percentage to 92.02 per cent.
Among the candidates, 40,281 girls appeared in the examination, of whom 37,749 cleared it. Out of 40,828 boys who appeared, 36,888 passed. A total of 3,352 students were declared failed, while 3,071 were placed in the compartment category.
In the Arts stream, Anshit Sharma of PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Bhawarna in Kangra, who is also the overall state topper, secured the first position with 99.2 per cent marks, scoring 496 out of 500. Arushi of Government Senior Secondary School, Kanger Dharyar in Sirmaur district secured the second position with 99 per cent marks, while Shamaya Barjatya of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dari in Kangra stood third with 98.8 per cent marks.
In the Science stream, Shayla Kashyap of The New Era School of Sciences, Chhatri in Kangra bagged first position with 99 per cent marks. Sanchita Dhiman of Gurukul Public Senior Secondary School, Amb in Una and Kashi Sharma of Aryan Public School, Jhandi in Hamirpur jointly secured the second position with 98.6 per cent marks.
In the Commerce stream, three students, Yashsvani Chauhan and Krishika from St D.R. Public School, Gagret in Una, and Ayan of AVM Senior Secondary School, Pahra in Kangra, shared the top position by securing 98.2 per cent marks.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Education Minister Rohit Thakur congratulated all students who successfully cleared the examination.
Praising the meritorious students for their performance, Sukhu said their success reflects consistent hard work and dedication towards studies. He also urged students to acknowledge the role played by parents, teachers and well-wishers in guiding them throughout their academic journey.
Education Minister Rohit Thakur said the 92.02 per cent pass result is higher than previous years and reflects the impact of reforms introduced by the state government and the education board. He noted that the pass percentage stood at 79.06 per cent in 2023, 74.0 per cent in 2024 and 83.16 per cent in 2025, showing steady improvement.
The minister especially appreciated the performance of girl students, who once again outperformed boys. He said the success of daughters is a matter of pride for the state and reflects their determination, talent and growing achievements in education.
