Panic gripped several schools in Shimla after a bomb threat email prompted evacuation on Monday, police said.
According to officials, multiple schools received emails warning that explosives had been planted on their premises and the buildings would be blown up.
School administrations immediately alerted the police. Students and staff were evacuated as a precaution while police teams conducted thorough searches of the campuses. No suspicious object was found during the operation.
Parents were informed about the threat, prompting many to rush to the schools to take their children home. Bomb disposal squads and police teams also carried out mock drills to ensure safety preparedness.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said efforts are underway to trace the source of the email. The threat message did not mention any individual or organisation, he added.
