The police have arrested two individuals for allegedly supplying bank accounts to cyber fraudsters, who duped victims on the pretext of lucrative investment schemes.
According to officials, a complaint was lodged at the Cyber South police station in Gurugram on September 8 last year, reporting a fraud of around ₹1.09 crore. The complainant alleged being cheated after being promised high returns on investments. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following an investigation, police apprehended the two accused. They were identified as Amarjeet (36), a resident of Gagsina village in Karnal district, and Amit Kumar (34), a resident of Sargathal village in Sonipat district, Haryana.
During interrogation, it emerged that the duo had formed a firm, entered into a partnership, and opened a bank account in its name. They allegedly provided this account to cyber fraudsters to facilitate illegal transactions.
Police revealed that the account received around ₹29 lakh linked to the fraud. The accused later sold the account to other individuals for ₹1 lakh.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Priyanshu Dewan said further questioning of the accused is underway to uncover the wider network involved in the racket.
