Himachal Pradesh Governor and former Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta said the removal of Article 370 marked the beginning of a new phase of social justice, inclusive growth and stronger integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.

Speaking on the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Gupta described the decision as a historic step that reinforced the principles of equal rights and a uniform constitutional framework across India.

He said the move was a significant milestone in independent India's history. According to him, it paved the way for greater social justice, wider development opportunities and closer integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the national mainstream.

The Governor also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Central Government for their role in implementing the decision. He credited their leadership with promoting equality, empowerment and opportunities for all sections of society.

Gupta said several communities that had long remained on the margins, including West Pakistan Refugees, the Valmiki community and the Gorkha community, have benefited from constitutional protections and equal opportunities following the change.

He noted that many groups in Jammu and Kashmir had faced restrictions in accessing rights and welfare benefits for decades. He said the abrogation of Article 370 helped extend constitutional safeguards and government welfare schemes to all citizens, creating new opportunities in education, employment and socio-economic development.

The Governor also reaffirmed his commitment to the country's unity, integrity and progress while conveying his best wishes to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said Jammu and Kashmir's rich culture, diversity and resilience continue to be a source of pride for the nation. He added that the Union Territory is moving forward with renewed confidence on the path of peace, development and prosperity.
