A victim in the alleged sexual harassment and forced conversion case at the TCS unit in Nashik has told police that one of the accused sexually assaulted her four years ago, concealed his marital status, and later pressured her to convert to Islam while making derogatory remarks about her faith at the workplace.

Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and arrested eight persons after registering nine FIRs in connection with allegations of sexual harassment and coercion to convert, which surfaced at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) facility in Nashik.

According to the FIR based on the complainant’s statement, she first met one of the accused—an alumnus of her college—four years ago, and the two developed a friendship. The accused allegedly promised her employment at TCS.

In July 2022, during a meeting at Deolali Camp area, the accused allegedly forced himself upon her and expressed an intention to marry her, the complaint stated. The woman later secured a job at TCS, where the accused was also employed.

The complaint further states that in February 2026, she discovered that the accused was already married with two children after his wife contacted her. When confronted, the accused allegedly admitted that he had never intended to marry her.

The FIR alleges that the accused, along with two other colleagues, repeatedly met her in the company canteen and made offensive remarks about Hindu deities. They allegedly described the ‘Shivalinga’ as “obscene” and made derogatory comments about figures from the Mahabharata, including Draupadi.

The complainant has also alleged that the trio pressured her to convert to Islam, claiming it to be a superior faith. She further stated that she faced sexual harassment and blackmail from some of the co-accused.

Police have invoked provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to rape, outraging the modesty of a woman, and promoting enmity between groups on religious grounds.

TCS has stated that a preliminary internal review shows no complaint of this nature was received through its ethics or POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) channels. The company has announced an oversight panel and involvement of external agencies for its ongoing internal investigation, reiterating its zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct.

Employee seeks pre-arrest bail, custody extended

A female employee of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Nashik, accused in a case involving alleged religious conversion and sexual harassment of women colleagues, has moved an anticipatory bail plea citing her two-month pregnancy.

Identified as Nida Khan, she argued that the offences carry a punishment of less than seven years; her plea will be heard on Monday.
