Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has broken its silence regarding the disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct and forced religious conversion at its Nashik unit, stating on Friday that no such grievances had been flagged through its official internal channels. Despite the gravity of the police investigation, the IT giant maintained that a preliminary sweep of its ethics and POSH (prevention of sexual harassment) systems revealed a total absence of related complaints.
To address the situation, the company has appointed an oversight committee led by finance veteran and independent director Keki Mistry. TCS has also brought in external entities to assist with a deep-dive internal probe. The move follows the arrest of seven employees, including a female HR head, as local police continue to piece together a complex web of accusations involving harassment and deception.
To begin with, this case was initiated when a complaint was raised by an employee towards her colleague, Danish Sheikh, alleging that she was made to fall into a trap of engaging in an extramarital affair by him using the ruse of marriage in the year 2022. However, as the case progressed, many more women emerged and raised allegations against the management, stating that they had been mentally and sexually harassed by their superiors and that their complaints to the HR department had been ignored since early 2022 until March 2026.
Central to the row is Nida Khan, Danish Sheikh’s sister, who is currently evading the authorities. Police reports suggest Khan allegedly denigrated the complainant’s faith and pressured her to convert. While her family claims she is in Mumbai and pregnant, the Nashik Crime Branch recently tracked her husband for questioning. Khan has meanwhile filed an application for anticipatory bail, possibly based on her health situation.
It is important to note that the TCS tried to specify the status of the woman who worked there. The firm emphasised that Khan did not occupy any leadership positions or engage in recruitment activities and could only be considered a process associate. All employees associated with the case have been put on hold. The CEO of Tata Sons N Chandrasekaran stated that all rumours about the situation were “deeply disturbing and distressing.”
