A private training aircraft operated by Red Bird Aviation crashed in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district on Sunday, leaving both a captain and a trainee pilot seriously injured.
The light aircraft was flying from Kalaburagi to Belagavi when it experienced a sudden engine failure, forcing it down near Mangalore village in the Babaleshwar Police Station limits.
Local police arrived at the scene and coordinated with emergency services to rush the injured pair to a nearby hospital via ambulance.
While the official cause of the accident is still under investigation, preliminary findings point to a major technical glitch in the engine. Authorities have confirmed that both individuals on board sustained grievous injuries, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is now underway.
