Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday, accusing him of ignoring the needs of Delhi's slum dwellers. Shah claimed that the toilet in Kejriwal's ‘Sheesh Mahal’ was more expensive than the entire slums.
Speaking at the 'Slum Dwellers' conference in Delhi, which is preparing for elections, Shah said that the slum residents were deprived of basic facilities like clean water under the AAP government.
Shah also highlighted that slum dwellers were frustrated with the pollution in Delhi, calling it the most polluted city in the world.
"People in the slums are asking us why Delhi is the most polluted city. What has Arvind Kejriwal done in the last 10 years? If you can’t do anything, Kejriwal, you should step down. The BJP will provide all the benefits," he said.
Shah went on to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing homes to over 3.58 crore poor people across India and promised that every slum dweller in Delhi would receive a permanent house. "The toilet in Kejriwal's Sheesh Mahal costs more than the entire slum," he added.

Shah accused Kejriwal of deceiving the slum dwellers and making Delhi a "living hell." He also criticized the AAP government for turning Delhi into a polluted and chaotic city.
"Open a tap, dirty water comes out; open a window, there’s a foul smell; step outside, broken roads greet you. Even during Chhath Puja, people couldn't bathe in the polluted Yamuna. There’s garbage everywhere. This AAP government has turned Delhi into a living hell," he said.
Arvind Kejriwal’s Response
In response, Arvind Kejriwal hit back, claiming that the people of Delhi would answer Amit Shah in the elections for his "abuses." "Amit Shah abused me and the people of Delhi today. The people of Delhi will respond in the elections," Kejriwal said.
Kejriwal also accused the BJP of lying to the slum dwellers and promised to expose the party's "dirty intentions." "Tomorrow, I will hold a press conference in a slum they plan to demolish after the elections. I will reveal the truth with full evidence," he added.
The exchange between the two leaders marks a sharp political divide as Delhi heads into the election season.
