Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address a ‘Badlav’ rally in Moga, Punjab, on March 14, state BJP working president Ashwani Sharma said on Thursday. Speaking to reporters in Chandigarh, Sharma said many people in Punjab now see the BJP as a strong alternative in the state.

He said the BJP is committed to serving the people of Punjab. The party, he added, wanted to put the state back on the path of development, tackle the drug problem, improve the condition of farmers and provide a corruption-free government.

The rally is being viewed as the start of the BJP’s campaign for the Punjab Assembly elections, which are scheduled for early 2027. Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party government in the state, Sharma alleged that the Bhagwant Mann-led government had failed on all fronts. He claimed that law and order in Punjab has completely broken down. He referred to recent incidents of extortion and gun violence as examples.

Sharma further alleged that drugs, illegal mining and corruption are widespread across the state. He also claimed that government employees were not receiving their salaries on time.
