Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said the partnership with the Gates Foundation will transform the state’s growth.
Speaking at a meeting with Microsoft founder Bill Gates at the Secretariat, in the presence of ministers and senior officials, Naidu said he was happy that the Gates Foundation is extending support for several projects in the state.
Naidu also gave a presentation on his Swarna Andhra 2047 (Golden Andhra) vision. He explained the government’s key policies and major programmes. "Today, at the Secretariat in Amaravati, I presented my vision for Swarna Andhra 2047, where our ministers and secretaries also interacted with him (Gates). We discussed our priority sectors and explored avenues for collaboration with the Gates Foundation to empower our people and enhance their quality of life," Naidu said in a post on 'X'.
Calling Gates’ visit to the greenfield capital Amaravati “historic”, Naidu said it would give a major boost to the state’s development. He said Andhra Pradesh has all the required resources but needs stronger income generation at present. “With the cooperation of Gates, we will achieve better results in various sectors,” he said, adding that the partnership with the Gates Foundation would transform the state’s development.
Naidu said the government’s policy is to deliver governance at speed. He said technology is being widely used for this purpose. He added that Amaravati will emerge as a quantum valley, Visakhapatnam as a data and AI city, Kakinada as a green hydrogen valley, and Orvakal as a drone city.
The Chief Minister said Lepakshi village in the Rayalaseema region will be developed into an electronics and aero city. Tirupati, he said, will be transformed into an electronics and space city.
Naidu also added that the state has deployed Artificial Intelligence in 10 sectors and across 30 government departments, along with several other digital initiatives.
Recalling his first meeting with Gates in 1997, when he was the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said he had persuaded Gates to set up a Microsoft office in Hyderabad. He noted that the IT sector grew rapidly in Hyderabad after that.
Later, Gates and Naidu visited a banana orchard in Undavalli village on the banks of the Krishna river. They also visited the Chief Minister’s residence. Gates observed natural farming practices and the use of AI and drones in agriculture, the release added.
