Microsoft founder Bill Gates on Monday stated that India is ahead in the digital revolution. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for playing an important role in this progress.
Gates met Naidu and interacted with ministers and senior officials. He hailed the Chief Minister’s vision and said Naidu is ahead in his thinking compared to many global leaders, according to a press release issued by the Andhra Pradesh government.
"India is ahead in the digital revolution and both the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and Chief Minister (Naidu) are playing key role in the digital revolution," the press note quoted Gates as saying.
He also said that even in developed countries, technology is not widely used in the agriculture sector. In contrast, Andhra Pradesh is moving ahead by using modern tools and digital techniques in farming.
Gates said that the Gates Foundation has been focusing strongly on the health sector and has taken up several health-related projects. He stressed that quality health services should reach everyone. He appreciated the Sanjeevani health project, which is being implemented in Kuppam in partnership with the Gates Foundation.
Gates also praised the use of technology in disaster management in the state. He said such systems help reduce the loss of life and property during natural calamities.
Replying to a question from ministers, Gates said that when Chandrababu Naidu promoted information technology, many IT experts emerged from Hyderabad. He added that Microsoft has a large number of professionals from the Telugu states, the release stated.
