CM Pema Khandu said Arunachal Pradesh is transitioning to an export-oriented economy.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu asserted that the state is moving towards to transite from a producer state to an export-oriented economy. The remark came from the CM on Thursday, during the inauguration of the two-day Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM. Khandu emphasised that the state’s rich natural resources, unique agro-climatic advantage, and traditional craftsmanship present vast opportunities for global trade.

“This meet is not just a trade event; it is a platform of possibilities connecting our farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs with domestic and global markets,” he said.

In the event, producers, exporters, investors, and buyers from across India and abroad came together to explore investment opportunities in Arunachal Pradesh. The event has been organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in collaboration with the state’s trade and commerce department.

There have been major improvements in road, rail, air, and digital connectivity in the last decade, which have opened new export avenues for the state, the chief minister then added.

Furthermore, noting that the state government is steering industrial development, the CM spoke about the Industrial Development and Investment Policy, 2025, which aims to drive sustainable growth through skill development, investment facilitation, and entrepreneurship. This policy is being supported by incentives such as transport and interest subsidies and insurance for resource-based industries.

The chief minister also mentioned that it's now easier to start and run a business. This is because the government has made the process simpler for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) to register. Furthermore, they've improved services at the local District Industries Centres (DICs) to help businesses get loans and connect with customers (market linkage).

“Sustainable trade and investment are not just about profit, they are about people, progress, and partnership,” he said while urging the participants to forge meaningful collaborations that would integrate Arunachal Pradesh with global value chains.
