ASI Sandeep’s relative, Satyawan Lathar, shared that after reaching an understanding with the government, the late ASI’s cremation will be held at around 12 noon on Thursday, after the post-mortem. The last rites will be performed in Julana.
“After the consent of the family, the post-mortem will be done today, and at around 12 noon, the last rites will be performed in Julana,” Satyawan said.
He added that the family has no further demands from the government. They have agreed to the post-mortem and want the final rites to be conducted with dignity and honour.
“We had no demands from the government,” he said.
ASI Sandeep Lathar’s body was found under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday near an agricultural field in Ladhot village, Rohtak.
Rohtak Superintendent of Police, Surendra Singh Bhoria, said the deceased was identified as Sandeep, an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Haryana Police. He added that a forensic team was called to the spot and the probe is in progress.
“This was a hardworking ASI of our Police Department, Sandeep. He was very honest. His body has been found. A forensic team has been called here, and an investigation is being carried out. He was posted in Cyber Cell,” Bhoria told mediapersons.
The case has surfaced at a time when the state is already grappling with the death of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his Chandigarh home on October 7.
On Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini met the family of ASI Sandeep. A day earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also met the family and expressed grief over the officer’s death.
